World Peace Artist Han Han-guk Donates Rice for North Korean Defectors

[News S = Reporter Park No-hun] Han Han-guk, a world peace artist and recipient of the "4th Proud Gyeonggi Citizen Award" in 2017, has donated 300 kilograms of "Peace Talent Sharing Rice" to support the successful settlement of North Korean defectors.

On the 14th, the artist visited the "Pyeongtaek YMCA Gyeonggi South Hana Center," an institution that supports the initial settlement of North Korean defectors, and delivered 300 kilograms of rice obtained through talent donation in the production of small and medium-sized enterprise company logs.

Han stated, "As a recipient of the Proud Gyeonggi Citizen Award, I am pleased to be able to practice such sharing, and I hope that 'Peace Talent Sharing Rice' will expand nationwide, starting from Gyeonggi Province. Going forward, I will continue to carry out activities that can contribute to the peace, unification of the Korean Peninsula, and world peace."

The 300 kilograms of "Peace Talent Sharing Rice" donated by Han will be distributed to newly arrived defectors who receive initial training at the center.

Han was recognized as the recipient of the "4th Proud Gyeonggi Citizen Award" in 2017 for creating a "World Peace Map" in Korean characters and donating it to the UN headquarters in 22 countries, as well as delivering a "Korean Peninsula Peace Map" produced with 80,000 Korean characters over five years to North Korea, receiving a letter of thanks from North Korea's Ministry of Culture. Since then, Han has been active as a visiting professor at Yanbian University's College of Arts in China, a selected artist for the G20 Parliamentary Speakers Conference, and as an invited artist at the New York Korean Cultural Center and Beijing Korean Cultural Center, undertaking various public interest activities including producing the "Liberation Day Dokdo Hope Map of the Republic of Korea."

Meanwhile, the "Gyeonggi South Hana Center" is an institution that supports stable social adaptation and establishment of self-reliance and self-sufficiency by providing intensive initial training (8 days/50 hours) and regional adaptation support (post-support) to defectors who wish to resettle in Pyeongtaek, Hwaseong, Osan, and Anseong after completing "Hanawon," an institution under the Ministry of Unification where North Korean defectors receive their first training.
