Samil Technical High School in Suwon Earns Acclaim as Pioneer School Harmonizing Technology and Humanities
[News S=Reporter Kim Chung-young] Samil Technical High School in Suwon (Principal Kim Dong-su; hereinafter Samil Technical High School) is garnering attention as it elevates its reputation as a pioneering school harmonizing technology and humanities.
According to the results of the judging for Suwon City's '2024 First Half Bus Stop Humanities Writing Contest,' which ran for 16 days from March 14 to March 29, Samil Technical High School announced that 19 students from the school had their works selected as award-winning entries among 32 selected works in the youth division, with Internet of Things student Jeon Hyun from the 2nd year being selected as the grand prize winner.
Accordingly, Samil Technical High School received 'Suwon City Mayor's Commendation Certificates' for these award-winning students from Suwon City, and on June 3, Principal Kim Dong-su held a commendation ceremony in the school library to present the certificates to the award recipients.
The '2024 First Half Bus Stop Humanities Writing Contest' was open to participation by anyone belonging to Suwon residents or schools, workplaces, and businesses located in Suwon. This year's contest was held under the theme 'My Precious Moment.'
Meanwhile, Samil Technical High School, which has participated in the 'Bus Stop Humanities Writing Contest' since 2017, has produced numerous award-winning works in all eight iterations of the contest.
Principal Kim Dong-su of Samil Technical High School stated, "Scientific and technological advancement without creativity and character development inevitably has limitations. Therefore, for nurturing talented individuals urgently needed in this era, humanities education is not optional but essential," and added, "Samil Technical High School places importance on humanities education during class time and creative experiential learning activities, and the passion of our teachers and students' commitment to learning have made these outstanding results possible."
