'Pyeongtaek Port Chacharcha Festival' Concludes in Huge Success, Anticipating Next Year
[News S=Kim Jong-sik Senior Correspondent] The 'Pyeongtaek Port Festival Chacharcha' event held on the 20th at the former International Passenger Terminal of Pyeongtaek-Dangjin Port, Korea's top automobile logistics hub, concluded successfully with approximately 20,000 attendees according to organizers.
The venue featured exhibitions of classic cars including a 1959 Cadillac and an electric vehicle experience zone where visitors could directly experience the present and future of the automobile industry. Family visitors had the opportunity to take photos and test-drive the vehicles.
At the automobile trunk market, lifestyle items and various merchandise were traded, and about 20 promotional booths including Nuri Psychological Counseling Institute and Ttubi's Craft Studio were set up to conduct on-site psychological counseling and craft experiences such as making mugs.
Yang Eun-jung, CEO of Nuri Psychological Counseling Institute (Ph.D. in Psychology), said "As a result of conducting on-site 'drawing people on rainy days' with about 200 participants, stress factors such as thunder and lightning were found more frequently than preparedness items like umbrellas and rain boots," adding "We deployed five counselors to provide approximately 10-minute counseling sessions to reduce modern people's stress."
The festival ran from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with preliminaries featuring 76 teams, final rounds, invited teams, and local resident performances in diverse formats. The highlight stage featured a performance by singer Nora Cho that lifted the atmosphere.
One KG Mobility SUV Tivoli vehicle offered as a prize went to Kim Seung-jun (25, Samsung Semiconductor Hwaseong Plant employee) among approximately 3,000 people who remained until the end. His girlfriend learned about the event through Instagram and attended together.
Rho Cheol, chairman of KG Mobility's union committee, said "We received a promise from the company to support automobile prizes at the event every year going forward," adding "KG Mobility, headquartered in Pyeongtaek, received great support from the local community during difficult times, and now the company has decided to provide one vehicle as a prize as part of co-prosperity with the community based on our suggestion."
Attending the event were Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jang-seon, National Assemblyman Lee Byung-jin, former National Assemblyman Won Yu-cheol, six provincial assemblymen including Lee Hak-su, City Council Chairman Kang Jung-gu, and five city councilmen.
At the awards ceremony, National Assemblyman Lee Byung-jin, Provincial Assemblyman Lee Hak-su, City Councilwoman Kim Hye-young, KG Mobility Union Chairman Rho Cheol, and Pyeongtaek Port Union Chairman Kim Dae-sik received commendation plaques.
The event was hosted by Pyeongtaek Arts and Culture Association and organized by the Pyeongtaek Port Festival Promotion Committee and the Pyeongtaek-Dangjin Port Development Consultative Body.
