Choi Hye-min Takes Office as 31st Deputy Mayor of Gwangmyeong

[News S=Reporter Yu Je-seong] Choi Hye-min, the newly appointed Deputy Mayor of Gwangmyeong, expressed her determination to do her best in municipal administration centered on citizens' lives and in promoting future strategic initiatives.

At the inauguration ceremony for the 31st Deputy Mayor held in the City Hall conference room on the afternoon of the 6th, Deputy Mayor Choi said, "Gwangmyeong now stands at an important turning point where it must redesign the city's future anew. I feel truly honored to serve as Deputy Mayor during this meaningful time, and I will bring all my accumulated experience and capabilities to bear for Gwangmyeong's greater leap forward."

She further evaluated that since the launch of the 8th civilian government, Gwangmyeong City has achieved results that substantively change citizens' lives while placing "Citizens Working Together, Smiling Gwangmyeong" at the center of municipal governance, emphasizing that "these achievements are the valuable fruit created not only by administrative power but also by active citizen participation and public officials' dedication."

Deputy Mayor Choi presented the following directions for future municipal administration: △A city where citizen sovereignty and lifelong learning take root in daily life △A pleasant garden city that leads carbon neutrality and resource circulation △Realization of a community of coexistence and solidarity based on social economy.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Choi Hye-min began her official schedule on the 5th, her first day in office, by paying respects at the memorial tower in Hyunchung Neighborhood Park, and subsequently reviewed municipal issues through briefings on major tasks.

Born in 1971, Deputy Mayor Choi entered public service in 1993 and has served as Director of the Northern Environment Management Division of Gyeonggi Province, Director of Climate and Energy Policy Division, Director of Digital Innovation Division, Director of Science and Technology Division, and Policy Planning Officer. She has particularly been recognized for leading digital transformation in administration and policies based on future technologies, driving change and innovation, and, during her tenure as Policy Planning Officer, receiving praise for enhancing policy implementation quality by performing mid-to-long-term policy design and inter-departmental coordination roles.
