Shin Ho-jeong Assumes Position as 4th Suwon City Residents' Autonomy Council Chairman
[News S=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Shin Ho-jeong, chairman of the Pyeongdong Residents' Autonomy Council, has assumed office as the 4th Suwon City Residents' Autonomy Council Chairman. The inauguration ceremony was held on the 7th at the grand hall of Suwon City Hall.
The Suwon City Residents' Autonomy Council held a regular meeting on November 28 last year and elected the new council chairman.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Suwon Metropolitan Mayor Lee Jae-jun, residents' autonomy council chairmen and members from 44 districts, Suwon Metropolitan City Council Speaker Lee Jae-sik and other city council members, and Councilor Kim Jun-hyeok (Suwon City Politics). Mayor Lee Jae-jun presented a plaque of appreciation to Jin Sung-won, the outgoing 3rd Suwon City Residents' Autonomy Council Chairman.
Newly appointed Chairman Shin Ho-jeong stated, "I sincerely thank former Chairman Jin Sung-won and the chairmen of the residents' autonomy councils in all 44 districts for their dedication in establishing the status and building the foundation of the Suwon City Residents' Autonomy Council over the past year," and added, "I will move forward hand in hand with the chairmen and members of the residents' autonomy councils in all 44 districts so that we can make a new leap forward as a true residents' autonomy council that operates through independent thinking."
Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "The flower of democracy is decentralization of autonomy, and the flower of decentralization of autonomy is residents' autonomy," and added, "I hope the Suwon City Residents' Autonomy Council will lead the way toward true decentralization of autonomy."
