Candidate Lee Sang-il Continues Weekend Campaign Momentum with Support from Rep. Ahn Cheol-soo
[News S=Reporter Choi Ki-ho] On the 31st, Lee Sang-il, the People Power Party candidate for Yongin Special City Mayor, toured Suji-gu, Cheoin-gu, and Giheung-gu, engaging in dialogue with Yongin citizens.
On that day, four-term People Power Party Rep. Ahn Cheol-soo (Bundang A) visited Yongin and made a surprise appearance at a cafe street in Boseong-dong, Giheung-gu, heating up the campaign atmosphere. Rep. Ahn is serving as honorary campaign co-chair for candidate Lee.
After street campaigning that day, Rep. Ahn told supporters, "Mayor Lee Sang-il has progressed the semiconductor project well and greatly transformed and developed Yongin," and emphasized, "It is clear that Lee Sang-il is the person to keep advancing Yongin."
Rep. Ahn continued, "If someone unfamiliar with Yongin becomes mayor, all the important work that Mayor Lee has been doing will fall apart," adding, "That person will likely waste about 2 years learning and studying city affairs."
Rep. Ahn stated, "Then Yongin will be set back 6 years," and said, "That's why I believe it is appropriate for citizens to give Mayor Lee Sang-il more opportunity to work."
Candidate Lee said, "At campaign sites, I have confirmed that public sentiment forms a great tide, calling for Lee Sang-il—who has accomplished much during the 8th civilian-led administration, including attracting the national semiconductor industrial complex—to become Yongin's first re-elected mayor and to advance and complete Yongin's projects."
Candidate Lee stated, "The mainstream public sentiment is that Lee Sang-il, who has managed semiconductors well, will grow semiconductors and further develop Yongin," and added, "The opposition seems to feel this too and is launching fierce negative attacks, but they only expose their own inadequacy. Rep. Ahn Cheol-soo's support is a great strength, and I am grateful."
As evening came, the candidate returned to Cheoin-gu and exchanged greetings with citizens on the street, continuing field activities centered on communication with Yongin residents.
Candidate Lee said, "I feel that the public sentiment of Yongin—that one should choose someone who knows the region—is spreading like a light from the grassroots," and stated, "I will make an all-out effort in the remaining time to draw overwhelming support from Yongin citizens."
