Kim Kyung-hee, People Power Party's Icheon Mayor Candidate: "I Will Create a City of Icheon Where Young People Begin"
[News S=Reporter Um In-yong] Kim Kyung-hee, the People Power Party's candidate for Icheon Mayor, presented strengthening the youth entrepreneurship ecosystem as Icheon's future growth strategy on the 1st, stating that "what young people need is not vague encouragement, but actual spaces to challenge themselves and foundations to sustain their efforts."
Referencing the operational achievements of Icheon City's Youth Startup Support Center, Candidate Kim said, "I will create a city where young people's ideas become businesses and small startups become new sparks for the local economy," and emphasized, "Icheon must no longer be a city that young people leave, but a city where young people learn, challenge themselves, and grow."
Candidate Kim stated, "Youth entrepreneurship is not simply one person's business, but an endeavor to expand a city's potential," and added, "One small desk, one conference room, one consultation session can be a turning point that changes someone's life."
He continued, "Young people should not only head to Seoul and major metropolitan areas, but should be able to learn technology, create content, and build companies within Icheon," and pledged, "Centered on the Youth Startup Support Center, I will create a growth ladder connecting education, mentoring, investment linkages, and market support."
Candidate Kim also presented a plan to connect Icheon's industrial foundation with youth startups.
The plan is to link Icheon's growth sectors—semiconductors, drones, future industries, content, and living services—with youth entrepreneurship to create new jobs and corporate ecosystems within the region.
He added, "Icheon has a semiconductor industry foundation centered on SK Hynix, and has the potential for agriculture, culture, tourism, and cutting-edge industries to grow together," and said, "Now, we must add young people's imagination and technology to this foundation."
He also stated, "It is difficult for young entrepreneurs to achieve great success from the start. What matters is a city's character that allows people to challenge again even after failure. I will ensure that the administration does not turn away from young people's first steps and becomes a reliable partner running alongside them."
Furthermore, he said, "I will ensure that young people do not give up their dreams in Icheon. Creating a city where young people can stay, challenge themselves, and succeed is the way to open Icheon's future," and added, "Protecting young people's present is the same as building Icheon's future."
Finally, Candidate Kim stated, "One young person's challenge changes a city's temperature," and pledged, "Kim Kyung-hee believes in young people's potential and will provide full support so that potential translates into Icheon's growth."
