Guri Agricultural & Fishery Products Corporation Conducts 'Special Safety Training on Confined Space Asphyxiation Prevention'
[News S=Reporter Eom In-yong] Guri Agricultural & Fishery Products Corporation (President Kim Jin-soo, hereinafter referred to as the Corporation) conducted 'Special Safety Training on Confined Space Asphyxiation Prevention' on the 15th (Wed.) to prevent confined space asphyxiation accidents, which pose a heightened risk during summer.
The safety training, held with the participation of field workers from water purification plants and other sites, covered practical on-site safety guidelines including △oxygen and toxic gas concentration measurement before entering confined spaces △ventilation methods to maintain proper air circulation △proper use of protective equipment such as supplied-air respirators △rescue procedures in case of emergencies, thereby enhancing response capabilities for high-risk summer work.
Additionally, immediately following the training, the 'Worker Safety and Health Communication Council' was held where field workers gathered to share hazards and risk factors in high-risk work environments and discussed practical improvement measures.
Through this process, the Corporation enhanced the effectiveness of safety measures based on field opinions and created an opportunity to establish a safety and health culture.
In particular, amid the recent record-breaking heatwave, the Corporation strengthened health management by continuously providing cool drinking water on site to prevent heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion among outdoor workers.
Furthermore, heatwave response supplies for heat-related illness prevention are expected to be distributed to Corporation executives, employees, and distributors with support from Guri City.
President Kim Jin-soo of the Corporation stated, "Summer is a season with heightened risks of heat-related illnesses due to extreme heat and confined space asphyxiation accidents, making preventive safety management crucial," and added, "Going forward, we will maintain a comprehensive safety and health management system to ensure that not a single safety accident occurs through thorough safety training, on-site support, and continuous communication with distributors."
