Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun Thanks Parent Support Group of Contrarian Classroom for Success in Specialized Education Model
Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "I am grateful to the parent support group members of the Contrarian Classroom (Class) for their dedication to the creative growth of elementary school students on the front lines of school education."
At the workshop for the Contrarian Classroom (Class) parent support group held by Suwon City at Suwon Youth Hostel on the 22nd, Mayor Lee stated, "Thanks to the extraordinary dedication of the parent support group and customized classes, the program is gaining support from school sites, students, and parents alike," and added, "We will spare no effort in support so that the Contrarian Classroom becomes firmly established as a successful model of Suwon-style specialized education."
The workshop was organized to encourage parent support groups actively working on the front lines of schools and to explore sustainable development measures among the support groups. Approximately 150 members of the Contrarian Classroom parent support group, who are active in grade-level customized specialized fields at elementary schools, attended.
On the day, parent support groups from various fields attended, including △Eco-Environment (1st grade) 35 members △Artificial Intelligence (AI) Robotics (2nd grade) 36 members △Culture and Arts (3rd grade) 41 members △Coding Drones (4th grade) 33 members △Global Citizenship (5th grade) 15 members △Artificial Intelligence (AI) Convergence (6th grade) 18 members, and shared on-site activity experiences and operational know-how.
The workshop proceeded with five themes: "Performance-Up," "Competency-Up," "Tension-Up," "Mindset-Up," and "Atmosphere-Up." A specialized expert lecture for enhancing the instructional capacity of parent support groups (participation techniques to improve youth concentration) was held and received positive response.
A "Team Unity Recreation" program was also conducted to foster exchange and camaraderie among parent support group members. Mayor Lee gave remarks and participated in the icebreaker program, communicating with the parent support group.
Contrarian Classroom parent instructors are parents who completed the "DODO Project" instructor training program. They teach in "Suwon-style specialized classrooms" (eco-environment, artificial intelligence robotics, culture and arts, coding drones, global citizenship, and artificial intelligence convergence).
The Contrarian Classroom (Class) is one of the projects under the Contrarian Spec (SPEC) initiative, Suwon City's education brand.
