Gyeonggi Province held a ‘Physical AI Enterprise Tour and Industry Exchange Program’ on the 24th at the Gyeonggi Physical AI Lab in Seongnam to enable university students to directly experience the technology and industrial sites of physical artificial intelligence (Physical AI) companies.

Physical AI is a technology in which artificial intelligence combines with physical devices such as robots, machinery, and equipment to perceive, judge, and control real environments. The province is promoting the construction of a related industrial ecosystem to demonstrate Physical AI technology at manufacturing sites and support its adoption and utilization by small and medium enterprises. The Gyeonggi Physical AI Lab is also being utilized as a space for education and industry exchange, in addition to technology demonstration by companies.

Approximately 30 students, including those from Gachon University's IT Convergence College, participated in the program. They examined the main products and technologies of companies housed at the Gyeonggi Physical AI Lab and explored various Physical AI applications including AI-based facility management automation, ICT·AI·robotics convergence, integrated care, safety monitoring, and learning analytics.

Subsequently, a question-and-answer session with company representatives followed on topics of industry trends, technology development, and startups. Participants also experienced the process of physical equipment and programs being linked at the performance testing facility (testbed).

Starting with this program, the province plans to continuously expand Physical AI education in cooperation with universities. Beyond simple site visits, it will develop diverse educational courses tailored to each university's majors and student levels, including enterprise tours, technology experiences, and software practice sessions. On the 28th, a ‘Physical AI Experience Program Based on NVIDIA Isaac Sim’ will be operated for students in the Semiconductor Design and AI Automation departments at Korea Polytechnic University's Seongnam Campus.

Lee Su-jae, head of the AI Industry Promotion Division at Gyeonggi Province, said, “For the Physical AI industry to grow, it is important for future talent to have opportunities to experience actual industrial sites alongside companies' technology development,” and added, “We will actively utilize the Gyeonggi Physical AI Lab as a space where universities, enterprises, and students meet, learn, and exchange.”
