Gwangmyeong City Submits 1.56 Trillion Won Supplementary Budget to Council

Gwangmyeong City (Mayor Park Seung-won) announced on the 25th that it has compiled the second supplementary budget for 2026 at a scale of 1.5625 trillion won.

This supplementary budget is 165.7 billion won (11.9%) larger than the first supplementary budget of 1.3968 trillion won, and the city submitted the budget proposal to Gwangmyeong City Council on the 24th.

The city concentrated financial resources on stabilizing people's livelihoods, improving citizens' living environment, and establishing the foundation for a future city, based on the core values of the ninth civilian administration: 'livelihood, peace, and solidarity.'

Mayor Park Seung-won stated, "This supplementary budget prioritizes more carefully looking after the lives of citizens and steadily preparing Gwangmyeong's future." He added, "We will create a 'Gwangmyeong where we prosper together' where all citizens can enjoy better lives and grow together, and build a city that opens the future 100 years powerfully with our citizens."

First, to revitalize the people's economy and promote local consumption, the city has included △3.7 billion won in Gwangmyeong Love Currency (local currency) issuance support △1.3 billion won for Gyeonggi Province's commerce-friendly urban development project △1 billion won for activation of social solidarity economy.

The city is also expanding projects to improve citizens' living environment and create a sustainable city. These include △2.2 billion won for Anyang Stream local garden construction △2 billion won for Haan 2 District damaged site restoration project △1.8 billion won for electric vehicle purchase subsidies △1 billion won for public restroom environment improvement △900 million won for smart bus stop installation △300 million won for Gahak Mountain neighborhood park development.

To achieve balanced development between the old downtown and new city areas and lay the foundation for a world-class city for the next 100 years, the city will invest in △1 billion won for Soha 2-dong New Village project △900 million won for Saeteo Village small-scale housing redevelopment management plan project △500 million won for Mokgam Bridge expansion construction basic design △400 million won for Guil Station transfer center basic design.

The second supplementary budget proposal is scheduled to be reviewed at the 302nd regular session of Gwangmyeong City Council on September 3rd and finalized on September 18th.
