Hwaseong Special City Holds Second-Half Opening Ceremony for 'Middle-aged Happiness Campus'

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) announced that it held the opening ceremony for the 'Hwaseong Middle-aged Happiness Campus' second-half session on the 27th in Room 204 of the Engineering Building at Hyupsung University.

The Hwaseong Middle-aged Happiness Campus is an initiative that supports middle-aged individuals in designing successful life transitions by utilizing facilities at the local university Hyupsung University. It provides various services including counseling and education, community activities, social contribution, and job placement connections.

The second-half curriculum consists of a total of 16 programs reflecting the diverse interests and needs of middle-aged participants. Key courses include △Well-Life Planner Program △Creating Happy Wood Furniture △Practical AI Application Course for Office Workers △50s & 60s Instructor Debut Project, offering diverse lectures ranging from practical liberal arts to professional skill enhancement.

The event was attended by approximately 180 people including Choi Eun-hee, Chair of the Health and Welfare Committee of Hwaseong City Council, city council members, Shin Hyun-ju, Director of Care and Welfare Services, Choi Byung-ju, Ward Office Chief of Hyohaeng, Seo Myung-soo, President of Hyupsung University, and students of the Happiness Campus, who together celebrated the beginning of the second-half education.

The opening ceremony proceeded with congratulatory remarks, program reports, and commemorative photos. An introductory special lecture on the theme of 'The Dignity of Words More Important in Act Two of Life' followed, receiving great response from participants.

Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jung Myung-geun said in a video address, "In the era of living to 100, middle-aged individuals are not at a time of concluding their careers but at an important turning point in life where they unfold new possibilities based on the experience and capabilities they have accumulated. Hwaseong Special City will provide strong support for the new challenges of middle-aged individuals from customized education to employment and entrepreneurship, and ensure that their experience and capabilities continue to be valued in the local community."
