Yellow Waves Paint Horogoruon Hill...Yeoncheon Jangnam Unified-Sunflower Festival Opens Next Month on 3rd
[News S=Jeon Si-eon Reporter] The "11th Yeoncheon Jangnam Unified-Sunflower Festival," a signature festival of Jangnam-myeon, Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province, will be held from September 3 to 6 for four days in the area surrounding the Horogoruon Historic Site.
This year's festival, marking its 11th edition, will feature diverse programs alongside sunflowers symbolizing unification and peace. The opening ceremony will begin on September 3 at the main stage with a traditional percussion parade and a celebratory performance by the Unified-Sunflower Choir.
The festival grounds will showcase a flower garden featuring sunflowers, celosia, and cosmos. Experience programs including face painting, woodcraft workshops, and keychain-making will be offered. A direct sales market with participation from local farms and a food market will showcase fresh agricultural products and food items.
Kwak No-beom, director of the Resident Autonomy Committee, said, "Due to abnormal temperatures and extreme heat accelerating sunflower blooming, we have moved up the festival schedule," and urged many to visit.
Kim Jeong-hye, head of Jangnam-myeon, said, "We hope to widely promote not only the local economy but also Yeoncheon's nature and values of peace."
