Democratic Party recruits 36 organization committee chairs nationwide; Gyeonggi Province leads with 10 positions
The Democratic Party of Korea is conducting an open recruitment for organization committee chairs at 36 single-member electoral districts nationwide. In Gyeonggi Province, 10 electoral districts—the most among all provincial-level divisions—have been included as recruitment targets.
The Democratic Party's Special Committee for Organizational Strengthening announced on the 1st that it has decided to conduct open recruitment for organization committee chairs across all 36 single-member electoral districts nationwide.
The recruitment targets in Gyeonggi Province include 10 districts: Seongnam Sujeong-gu, Seongnam Jungwon-gu, Pyeongtaek B, Ansan B, Namyangju C, Hanam C, Yongin A, Anseong, Gimpo C, and Hwaseong Jeong. Many of these are located in southern Gyeonggi Province.
In this recruitment process, a party member voting method has been introduced to broadly reflect the opinions of local party members in the selection of organization committee chairs. The Democratic Party plans to select individuals with regional representation and organizational competitiveness based on the support of local party members.
With next year's local elections approaching and Gyeonggi Province being recognized as one of the most crucial battlegrounds, the results of this organization committee chair appointment are expected to have significant impact on local organizational restructuring and the formation of local election candidate pools.
The announcement period runs from September 2-6 for five days, and applications will be accepted from September 7-9 for four days. Applicants can submit their applications through the Democratic Party's online application system.
The Organizational Strengthening Special Committee plans to expedite the organization committee chair selection process to minimize operational gaps in the single-member electoral district party organizations and normalize local organizations as soon as possible.
Other recruitment targets outside Gyeonggi Province include 5 positions in Seoul, 7 in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, 2 in Incheon, 1 in Daejeon, 1 in Gangwon, 1 in North Chungcheong, 1 in South Chungcheong, 5 in North Jeolla, 2 in South Gyeongsang Province, and 1 in Jeju Province.
Meanwhile, for three regions—Busan Saha-gu C, Daegu Dalseo-gu B, and Ulsan Ulju-gun—where district party chairs received disciplinary action suspending party member rights, further discussion was decided to be held later, taking into account that the appeal period has not yet expired.
