Korail Metropolitan Southwest Headquarters Strengthens Railway Safety Management for Seoul International Fireworks Festival on Yeouido
Korean Railroad Corporation (Korail) Metropolitan Southwest Headquarters has implemented comprehensive safety management measures for major stations ahead of the 'Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2026' scheduled for the 5th, including the operation of additional temporary trains and the intensive deployment of personnel, as they begin full-scale on-site response efforts.
The Seoul International Fireworks Festival is a representative large-scale event attracting over one million citizens and tourists annually, with large crowds gathering in the Yeouido and Ichon Hangang Park areas. In particular, many users are expected to concentrate at Noryangjin Station, which is adjacent to the festival venue, as well as at Daebang Station and Singil Station.
In response, Korail Metropolitan Southwest Headquarters has inspected risk factors at major stations and established safety management measures, focusing on expected congestion areas including visitor movement routes and crowded sections such as platforms and entrances/exits, in order to prevent congestion and safety incidents that may occur on the day of the festival.
In particular, in preparation for the concentration of returning visitors after the festival ends, four additional temporary trains will be operated, and approximately 120 safety management personnel will be intensively deployed to expected congestion areas, including 45 order maintenance personnel at Noryangjin Station, 35 at Daebang Station, and 31 at Singil Station. Additionally, the company will guide orderly passenger movement using station announcements and information guides, and will strengthen emergency contact systems at each station and cooperation systems with relevant agencies to respond promptly in the event of emergencies.
Baek Young-jong, Director of Korail Metropolitan Southwest Headquarters, stated, "Since many citizens visiting the Seoul International Fireworks Festival are expected to use the railway, we will make our utmost efforts to ensure passengers can use the railway safely and conveniently by closely monitoring on-site conditions."
