Gwangmyeong City Begins Retaining Wall Reconstruction Project on Chunghun Bridge Access Road… Targeting Completion in December 2027

Gwangmyeong City (Mayor Park Seung-won) is undertaking a project to reconstruct the reinforced soil retaining wall on the Chunghun Bridge access road to ensure its safety.

The city announced on the 7th that it will begin the retaining wall reconstruction project on the 14th, targeting completion in December 2027.

The project will proceed by completely demolishing the existing retaining wall and installing a new one. The total project cost is 3.5 billion won.

As a result, the upper road of the Chunghun Bridge, currently under traffic restrictions—specifically the right two lanes heading toward Anyang out of the four bidirectional lanes and a 120-meter sidewalk section—and the lower road usage will be maintained until September next year.

This project is a measure following the detailed safety inspection conducted last January, in which the reinforced soil retaining wall on the right side of the Chunghun Bridge access road was rated as "Grade D," requiring urgent repairs and reinforcement.

The city plans to thoroughly manage on-site safety during construction and strengthen project management to complete the work without delay within the planned timeframe.

Additionally, to minimize inconvenience to citizens, the city plans to deploy traffic guides at the site and provide speed reduction guidance, focusing on traffic safety management.

Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won said, "We will prioritize citizen safety and create a safe road environment through thorough safety management and swift project implementation," and added, "While there may be some inconvenience during the construction period, we ask for your understanding and cooperation as this is a measure for citizen safety."
