Hwaseong Fortress Illuminated with Light... 'Ayugabin' Media Art Through October 6
The 'Festival of Light' that wraps Suwon Hwaseong in beautiful illumination, '2026 Suwon Hwaseong Media Art,' opened on the 19th.
The Suwon Hwaseong Media Art runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. through October 6 around Hwaseo Gate, Jangan Gate, and Jangan Park. The theme of the 2026 Suwon Hwaseong Media Art is 'New Light Shared Joy: Suwon Hwaseong, Blooming with Light Season 1 - Ayugabin.' 'Ayugabin' means 'I have an honored guest.'
At the opening ceremony held on the 19th, Suwon Special Metropolitan City Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "In celebration of the Year of Suwon's Visit, we have carefully prepared the Suwon Hwaseong Media Art with the spirit of 'Ayugabin,'" adding, "I hope all guests who join us will enjoy the festival of light and experience happiness."
The Suwon Hwaseong Media Art, now in its sixth year, has expanded performances and increased experiential and extended-stay content. At Hwaseo Gate, the media art work 'Light of Connection' screens three times daily (7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., and 9:30 p.m.).
At Jangan Gate, storytelling works related to Suwon Hwaseong will be presented under the theme of 'The King's Path - Together.' A grand media art experience combining lighting, sound, and special effects will be created.
Jangan Park will be transformed into a media park. Interactive sound media art will be produced utilizing the Hwaseong fortress walls, and healing zones featuring giant flowers and botanical installations will operate in the forest space.
