"Hyunji noona is stronger than Hunshik hyung"...Jang Dong-hyuk directly targets President Lee's close aides
Jang Dong-hyuk, chairman of the People Power Party, did not ease his offensive despite Kang Hunshik's announcement of resignation as presidential chief of staff, expanding the blame to Kim Hyun-ji, the first deputy director of the presidential office, and President Lee Jae-myung.
On the 21st, after news of Kang's resignation was reported, Chairman Jang posted on his SNS, "It is commendable that the president himself bears no responsibility in terms of posture," but questioned, "Is this incident something to be resolved by the responsibility of just one chief of staff?"
He continued, "Are not the people who should really take responsibility the 'Gyeonggi-Seongnam line' that is said to control the presidential office?" and asked, "After all, is 'Hyunji noona' stronger than 'Hunshik hyung'?"
Using Kang's resignation as an opportunity, he shifted responsibility for recent personnel disputes to the presidential office's core advisors, directly targeting Kim.
Chairman Jang went further to hold President Lee accountable.
He argued, "The level that can be resolved by simply replacing the chief of staff has long since passed," and "a comprehensive overhaul of the cabinet and the presidential office is necessary."
Regarding the presidential office's explanation that Kang's resignation was taken as "a matter of taking comprehensive responsibility," Jang stated, "The person who should take comprehensive responsibility is President Lee Jae-myung himself."
Earlier, Chief of Staff Kang announced his resignation to President Lee on that day.
The presidential office explained that with recent personnel disputes and declining presidential approval ratings, the chief of staff, who assists the president, is taking comprehensive responsibility.
Chairman Jang had already launched attacks against Kim before Kang's resignation became known.
On that morning at the Supreme Council meeting, he mentioned the withdrawals of former Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won and others, stating, "It is not something to be resolved by Kim Seung-won's withdrawal," and argued, "We must uncover the responsibility of the presidential office's personnel line and whether Kim Hyun-ji was involved."
He also pointed to the successive withdrawals of former Gender Equality and Family Minister nominee Yong Hye-in and former nominee Kim, saying, "All remaining nominees must be withdrawn," and "The entire cabinet and presidential office must be completely overhauled."
