Suwon Special City Seeks Products for 'Suwon Goods' Design Certification Program
Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-joon) is recruiting products for participation in the '2026 Second Half Suwon Goods Design Certification Program' by October 13 to discover excellent design products with Suwon's identity and marketability, and to revitalize private product development and distribution.
The Suwon Goods Design Certification Program is a system that discovers excellent products utilizing Suwon's diverse tangible and intangible assets such as history, culture, tourism, and city image, certifies design quality and marketability, and supports promotion and market expansion. In the first half of this year, 10 certified products were selected.
The second half recruitment targets products currently being manufactured and sold or completed for commercialization that have relevance to Suwon's regional characteristics and enable actual production, sales, and participation in follow-up projects after certification. Not only corporations but also individuals planning, manufacturing, and distributing Suwon goods can apply.
For the second half, to expand products that citizens and visitors can purchase and use in their daily lives, the city is primarily recruiting three categories: △space-linked type reflecting major spaces in Suwon and user characteristics, △city image type utilizing colors and images discovered from Suwon's history, culture, nature, and urban landscape, and △practical goods type priced at 10,000 won or less that can be used in daily life, events, and promotions.
Prospective participants must apply by October 13. Applicants should download the application form from the Suwon City website's 'Announcements/Public Notices/Legislative Notice' section and submit it according to the methods specified in the announcement.
Following the first-stage document review and second-stage product evaluation, certified products will be announced on December 11. The second stage evaluation has been changed from the previous presentation and product evaluation method to focus on product evaluation, comprehensively assessing design completeness and quality, marketability and commercial viability, and sustainability of production and distribution.
Selected products will receive 'Suwon Goods Design Certification'. Certified products can receive support including △registration on the Suwon Goods website and online/offline promotion, △participation in exhibitions and pop-up stores, △expanded product exposure and sales opportunities linked with major Suwon city events and spaces, and △coordination with private distribution channels.
A Suwon City official stated, "The Suwon Goods Design Certification Program is not simply an idea contest but a system to discover competitive products capable of actual production and sales," adding, "We hope that Suwon's spaces, culture, and city image will develop into diverse products that citizens and visitors can use and experience in their daily lives."
