Oh Hyun-jeong, a member of the Economic and Labor Committee of Gyeonggi Province Assembly (Democratic Party, Hwaseong District 2), visited the Insa Art Center in Insadong, Seoul on the 23rd to tour a local artist exhibition space arranged by Hwaseong City and explore provincial-level policy cooperation measures to support creative activities and expand exhibition spaces for regional cultural artists.

The exhibition space visit was conducted to directly observe the exhibition support project that Hwaseong City is pursuing to externally showcase works by local artists and inspire their creative spirit, and to discuss ways to expand excellent cultural and arts support models of cities and counties across the entire Gyeonggi Province.

After touring the exhibition that day, Councilor Oh stated, "For local artists, securing opportunities and spaces to present outstanding works to the public is just as important as creating them," and added, "In that sense, the project led by cities and counties to provide external exhibition spaces for local artists has become a very practical and reassuring support for field artists."

Councilor Oh suggested, "While Gyeonggi Province's financial situation is also challenging, if the province provides financial and administrative support to meaningful and effective projects pursued by basic local governments, it could develop into a wider-scale project that brings opportunities to many more local artists."

Furthermore, she emphasized the continuity of cultural and arts policy, stating, "Cultural and arts activities should not end with one-time events or temporary exhibitions, but rather when artists can continuously create and present their work in a stable environment does it truly become the unique culture of the region and seep into the daily lives of provincial residents."

Councilor Oh emphasized that even considering the overall difficult financial circumstances of Gyeonggi Province and its cities and counties, it is necessary to recognize the importance of cooperation between cities and counties and explore ways to revitalize local culture and arts.

Finally, Councilor Oh Hyun-jeong stated, "It is the role of the assembly to lay the groundwork so that art nurtured in local communities can meet a wider world beyond the province," and added, "Gyeonggi Province and its 31 cities and counties will join hands to spare no effort in policy deliberation and support so that regional cultural artists can focus stably on their creative activities."
