Gyeonggi Province is moving forward with expanded cooperation with Malaysia's water industry organizations, highlighting artificial intelligence (AI)-based smart water management technologies and field demonstration achievements of water companies in the province.

On the 30th at 2 p.m., Gyeonggi Province will host the "Gyeonggi Province Water Industry Development Forum" at the Grand Hall on the 3rd floor of the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, under the theme "The Future of Gyeonggi Province Water Industry through AI and Smart Water Management."

The forum will be attended by approximately 100 people including provincial and local government officials, water industry companies, experts, and officials from Malaysia's National Water Services Commission and National Water Research Institute. Co-organized by Gyeonggi Water Resources Headquarters and Gyeonggi Environmental Energy Promotion Agency, the forum will discuss digital transformation of the water industry and possibilities for international cooperation.

In Part 1, Gyeonggi Province will introduce water industry support policies and development directions, while the Korea Water Resources Corporation and Korea Environment Institute will present AI-based water management policies and technology trends. Malaysia's National Water Services Commission (SPAN) and National Water Research Institute (NAHRIM) will share prospects in the local water resources sector and major issues in water technology and water industry.

Part 2 will showcase technologies from Gyeonggi Province water companies that have completed field applications. Wecotech, Greenturbо, and Uwatech will share their implementation experiences and achievements with technologies verified in actual field settings, including Vietnamese river water quality data monitoring, air pump systems preventing damage to individual wastewater treatment facilities, and high-concentration ammonia nitrogen wastewater treatment.

Following the forum, one-on-one business consultations will be held between invited officials from Malaysia's National Water Services Commission and National Water Research Institute and water companies in the province. Through these consultations, Gyeonggi Province plans to identify local technology demands and institutional and operational conditions, and to specify future possibilities for technology exchange and cooperation.

Kim Jong-bae, director of the Water Supply and Sewerage Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "We hope this forum will serve as an opportunity to connect AI-based water management and water companies' demonstration achievements with overseas demand," and "Based on cooperation needs identified at the forum, we will continue to support overseas expansion of water companies in the province."
