The '2026 Anseong Cultural Market Festa' held in conjunction with the Anseong Namsadang Baudeokki Festival is filling the Anseongmatjeom Land Grass Square with diverse craft works and experiential programs.
The Anseong Cultural Market Festa, held for the second consecutive year following last year as part of the Korean Cultural City Development Project, is a craft culture festival that links local traditional culture with national craft content. It provides citizens and visitors with opportunities to enjoy culture, while giving local artisans a chance to expand their sales channels.
The Anseong Cultural Market Festa operates daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. A total of 55 teams participate, including 19 cultural artisans and 1 master artisan from Anseong City, 20 cultural commerce guild teams, and 15 craft artisans gathered from across the nation, showcasing and selling crafts from various fields such as ceramics, metalwork, textiles, and woodworking.
On day three of the festival, the 4th, visitors can enjoy a variety of craft experience programs. There will be experience activities including Master Nam Seong-suk's 'Making Owl-Shaped Wooden Name Plaques,' Master Jang Seok-soon's 'Making Traditional Paper Round Boxes,' and Master Lee Sang-rye's 'Making Five-Color Sachet Purses.' In demonstrations by Master Kim I-rang, a straw and thatch crafts master from Siheung, and Master Choi Sang-seop, a ceramic crafts master from Anseong, visitors can observe the process of artisans completing their works. In the morning, 'Making Norigae Keychains' with foreign supporter volunteers will be held at the central rest area to introduce Anseong's traditional crafts.
Every afternoon at 3 p.m. during the festival period, the 'Live Sales Show' hosted by comedian Jung Kyung-mi will take place on the market stage to meet visitors. It introduces Anseong's traditions and craft culture while highlighting the distinctive features of artisans' craft works.
Additionally, permanent features during the festival include a 'Preference Diagnosis Center' that recommends booths matching visitors' preferences through simple questions, 'Gacha Shop,' a capsule toy vending machine offering craft products for a nominal fee, and 'Cultural City Anseong × Kidzania,' where children can directly create craft products.
Anseong City is committed to establishing a foundation where culture and economy create a positive cycle and materializing the vision of a cultural city that residents can experience firsthand.
