Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il encouraged public officials for their efforts in successfully hosting Citizens' Day and the JoaYong Festival at an executive officials meeting held on the 6th at the city government video conference room, and emphasized the need for proactive administration that breaks down barriers between departments.

Mayor Lee said, "I extend my gratitude to public officials who made efforts to successfully hold the Citizens' Day event and the JoaYong Festival," and added, "Since many city characters gather for this event, we need to research more next year and add new elements such as programs using various characters."

Mayor Lee stated, "As Yongin is making a leap toward becoming a global semiconductor hub, we need to give long-term consideration to semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) festivals related to this," and requested, "Please plan a festival where visitors to Yongin can learn about semiconductors and experience them firsthand."

The meeting discussed the '2026 Local Government Innovation Evaluation Implementation Plan.' The government annually evaluates innovation cases of local governments across 243 local governments through major indicators including ▲strengthening communication and participation with residents ▲activating private-public collaboration ▲improving resident services using artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology ▲improving resident services and resolving blind spots in administration.

Mayor Lee said, "We have conducted various activities that residents can feel, such as parent communication meetings, resident meetings, and safety culture salons where the public and private sectors collaborate," and added, "Proactive administration is not done through words but through actions. I hope all public officials will make efforts in proactive administration that residents can feel, and actively engage in the local government innovation evaluation."

He further said, "Please discover and actively pursue innovation tasks suited to the characteristics of Yongin Special City and create innovation outcomes that residents can feel."

Additionally, major agenda items discussed at the meeting included the '8th Yongin Jung-ang Market Starlight Plaza Night Market,' 'Yongin Green Eco Park Development Project,' 'Creating Barrier-Free Traffic Environment and Expanding Support Measures for Traffic-Disadvantaged Groups,' 'Festival for Gimryang-jang and Shingal Intersection with Local Commercial Districts,' and 'Status of Agricultural Land Census in Cheoin-gu,' among others.

Regarding the agricultural land census in Cheoin-gu, Mayor Lee requested, "Please reflect the various voices coming from the field and research improvement measures or matters to request from the government."
