Photo News 'South Korea's Wings Toward Space'... Nuri Rocket 5th Launch Achieves Perfect Success
The Nuri rocket (KSLV-II), a Korean-type launch vehicle developed with South Korea's independent technology, successfully completed its fifth launch mission.
The Korea Aerospace Administration and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute officially announced on the 7th that the Nuri 5 rocket, launched at 12:25 p.m. at the 2nd Launch Pad of the Naro Space Center in Goheung, Jeonnam, entered its target orbit and successfully separated all mounted satellites normally.
The Nuri rocket on this day soared upward with magnificent flames immediately after liftoff, and successively completed stage 1, fairing, and stage 2 separation before continuing flight. Subsequently, at the target altitude of 570 kilometers, it perfectly separated a total of 15 mounted satellites (5 ultra-small cluster satellites and 10 CubeSats) at the planned moment.
In particular, this 5th launch carried a record 15 satellites and performed the on-time delivery mission, and immediately after separation, successfully achieved first communication with Sejong Base, proving the normal operational status of the satellites.
Oh Tae-seok, Administrator of the Korea Aerospace Administration, stated in a briefing that "through the successful 5th launch of the Nuri rocket, South Korea's space transportation capability has become more solid, and launch reliability has become more firmly established."
With this, the Nuri rocket overcame the disappointment of its 1st launch in 2021, achieving success in all launches from the 2nd through 5th, solidifying its position as South Korea's mainstay space launch vehicle. Going forward, the government plans to accelerate the expansion of a private-led space industry ecosystem based on the Nuri rocket's successful experience.
