Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) dispatched an investment promotion delegation to Tokyo, Japan, jointly with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) from October 6-8, conducting overseas investment attraction activities targeting advanced industry companies in the area.

On October 7, the city held an overseas investment promotion briefing at the Tokyo Palace Hotel, attended by approximately 100 Japanese business leaders and officials from economic organizations. The briefing shared semiconductor industry trends and business developments between South Korea and Japan, and provided information on Hwaseong Special City's investment environment and legal and accounting systems applicable to Korean investments.

Lee Hyang-soon, Director of Corporate Investment at Hwaseong Special City, introduced the investment environment, stating, "Hwaseong Special City, a core city of the Republic of Korea's mega semiconductor cluster, has excellent transportation networks, large-scale industrial complexes, and knowledge industry centers," and presented the city's urban environment with employment, residential, cultural, leisure, and educational foundations, as well as various corporate support policies.

After visiting the Tokyo Trade Office, the delegation strengthened its global network through individual meetings with global semiconductor companies including Tokyo Electron and the Japan Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment Association.

Additionally, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for mutual development was signed at Tokyo Precision's headquarters regarding the company headquarters and demo center being built in Hwaseong Special City. Under the agreement, the city will actively cooperate in administrative support such as licensing, while Tokyo Precision will cooperate in investment for job creation and regional economic development.

Regarding this, Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jung Myung-geun stated, "This activity served as an opportunity to identify the latest investment trends of Japanese companies and directly introduce Hwaseong Special City's excellent investment environment," and added, "Through the investment promotion briefing and corporate meetings, we have established a practical foundation for investment cooperation."
