Hwaseong City Expands Vietnamese Market Beyond Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi
Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myeong-geun) announced on the 21st that six companies from the city operated a joint pavilion at the "2026 Vietnam Hanoi Machinery Exhibition (MTA Hanoi 2026)" held at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC) in Hanoi from the 13th to the 18th, achieving 74 export consultations and 3 business agreements (MOUs).
The exhibition, marking its 11th edition, is the largest precision machinery and manufacturing exhibition in northern Vietnam, featuring cutting tools, metal processing machinery, molds, measurement equipment, and manufacturing facilities.
Hwaseong Special City undertook this initiative as part of various export support projects, including overseas exhibition support, market exploration teams, and domestic export consultation sessions, to overcome the export crisis facing small and medium-sized enterprises in the city, which is intensifying due to rising oil prices and sharp exchange rate fluctuations caused by the current Middle East situation.
Do Seong-jin, CEO of Brand New Machinery, who participated in the exhibition, said, "The demand for equipment in the north, where Korean corporate partners are concentrated, was much greater than expected," and "Thanks to the city's joint pavilion, we were able to discuss specifications and delivery dates concretely with buyers, and we will definitely follow through to complete contracts."
Jung Myeong-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong Special City, said, "Vietnam is a market where the industrial structures of the south and north differ, so it requires a region-by-region approach," and "We will continue to support companies in the city so they can expand their sales channels throughout Vietnam by carrying forward the achievements from Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi."
The city expanded its platform to Hanoi for the first time this year, based on experience accumulated over four consecutive years from 2022 at the MTA exhibition in Ho Chi Minh. The city provided support for booth rental and installation, exhibition goods transportation, and interpretation services. The Hwaseong City Export Business Support Center enhanced consultation focus by pre-identifying local buyers.
