Gwacheon City and Blue Gwacheon Environment Center will host the Gwacheon Environmental Festival on October 27 and November 7 under the theme of "Climate Action Together, Sustainable Gwacheon," where citizens can see, hear, and experience environmental initiatives.

On October 27, a "Carbon Neutrality Sharing Day" will be held at the Small Theater of Gwacheon Civic Center. Through the Carbon-Zero Apartment Competition, outstanding apartments that have practiced carbon neutrality through energy conservation will receive awards, and citizens, public institutions, and businesses will participate in discussions on carbon neutrality practices and achievements that have been implemented so far.

Visitors will also enjoy a special lecture by Professor Choi Young-joon of Yonsei University on climate crisis and carbon neutrality, as well as a talk concert featuring Lee Jung-mo, former director of the National Science Museum of Korea and science communicator. The lectures and conversations with experts are expected to provide an opportunity for citizens to better understand climate crisis and carbon neutrality and to collectively consider the necessity of climate action in everyday life.

On Saturday, November 7, a citizen-participation-focused environmental festival will be held around the Central Park and Yangjae Stream, where families, friends, and neighbors can participate together. The city said this will provide a valuable experience.

Citizens will be able to directly observe trees, insects, birds, and fish living in various locations around the Central Park and Yangjae Stream, listen to expert explanations, and experience Gwacheon's natural environment up close.

Gwacheon Mayor Shin Gae-yong said, "We have prepared diverse programs so that citizens can satisfy all five senses by directly seeing and hearing the meaning of carbon neutrality and Gwacheon's excellent natural environment," and added, "I hope that visits to the festival with family, friends, and neighbors will become a meaningful time to enjoy Gwacheon's nature and feel the importance of environmental preservation."
