Chuseok Food Shared in Sumin-dong, Dongnae, Busan...Delivered to 15 Elderly Households Living Alone

Chuseok food prepared together by elderly residents at a community center and children from a kindergarten in Sumin-dong, Dongnae-gu, Busan was delivered to 15 elderly households living alone.

The Sumin-dong Administrative Welfare Center held a 'Sharing Chuseok Warmth Through Jeon' event on September 22 ahead of Chuseok together with Forena Dongnae Senior Center and Dongnae Dream Green Kindergarten. The elderly and children made jeon together while sharing stories about the holiday, and the food prepared that day was delivered in two boxes each to 15 unaffiliated elderly households living alone. One box was prepared for the elderly residents' meals, and the other box was prepared to be shared with neighbors.

Yoon Sang-hyun, chairman of Forena Dongnae Senior Center who participated in the event, said, "I feel a sense of accomplishment in conveying sincerity to neighbors in need through food made together with children."

Joint activities between the senior center and kindergarten were not new. In November 2024, approximately 60 kindergarteners and about 20 members of the senior center participated together in an environmental cleanup campaign to clean chronic unsanitary areas in the Sumin-dong district. At the time, Chairman Yoon expressed his intention to create a clean neighborhood together with residents.

This event, in which children and elderly residents made food together and delivered the result to neighbors in need of care, stands out as a case of local sharing that combines intergenerational exchange with helping neighbors, and draws attention as an activity carried on in daily life through cooperation among multiple generations and institutions including the Administrative Welfare Center, senior center, and kindergarten.
