The Dongducheon-Yangju Education Support Office and Gwangju-Hanam Education Support Office will be separated, with new education support offices established in Yangju and Hanam respectively.

Superintendent of Education An Min-seok held a press conference at Yangju City Hall on the 29th, announcing that education support office separation and establishment will be promoted in regions where local government cooperation and opening conditions have been prepared, in order to rapidly respond to regional educational needs.

Accordingly, the Yangju Education Support Office and Hanam Education Support Office will open in September 2027, and independent education support offices will subsequently be installed in all 31 cities and counties in the province in phases. Currently, 26 education support offices are operating within Gyeonggi Province.

According to the Provincial Office of Education, Yangju's student population has exceeded 34,000 due to new town development and station area redevelopment, and Hanam's student population has also exceeded 41,000 with increased educational demand due to Kyosan District development, leading to continued requests for independent education support offices.

The Provincial Office of Education plans to accelerate opening preparations by adding "breaking barriers cooperation" with Yangju and Hanam cities to the legal foundation established through amendments to relevant laws and ordinances this year. The two local governments have contributed to early opening by providing free space support.

Yangju will utilize municipal facilities in Deokjeong-dong and the current Yangju Education Support Center, while Hanam will utilize Hanam City Comprehensive Welfare Town and the current Hanam Education Support Center.

The Provincial Office of Education plans to activate an opening preparation team next year to establish organizations, personnel, and facilities. It will respond to region-specific issues such as overcrowded classrooms and educational conditions in rural areas in Yangju, and student allocation following new town development in Hanam, while strengthening field support by deploying necessary personnel to schools.

Superintendent of Education An Min-seok stated, "Like Yangju and Hanam cities, we will promote separation and establishment starting with regions where local governments actively cooperate and opening conditions are met," and "We will realize educational autonomy that responsibly solves regional educational issues at the local level and provides close support to schools and teachers."
