Gimpo, Guri, Hanam to Supply 76,700 Housing Units in New Satellite Cities Within 5km of Seoul

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Hong Ji-sun) announced on the 29th a total of 76,700 housing units across 6 new satellite city candidate sites in Gimpo City, Guri City, Hanam City, Uijeongbu City, and Goyang City as a follow-up measure to the 'Rapid Housing Supply Plan (August 13 Measures).'

All of these candidate sites are located within approximately 5 kilometers from Seoul's boundary as major transportation hubs, featuring excellent accessibility to the city center. In particular, these areas are green belt zones with low environmental conservation value as they have already been damaged, with unplanned development already underway or being a concern.

The government's policy is to rapidly promote housing supply in these districts to enable actual demand users such as youth and newlywed couples to stably reside in well-located, quality housing.

The Gimpo Arajigol District, which will supply 37,000 units, is a high-demand area located on the Han River, with the Line 5 extension project underway nearby (passed preliminary feasibility study, March 2026), and features convenient inter-regional mobility with Gimpo Han River Road and the Metropolitan Circumferential Expressway also in the vicinity.

The Guri Gunwon District will supply 14,600 units, adjacent to the Metropolitan Circumferential Expressway with a 30-minute commute to Jamsil Station, and is surrounded by Yongamcheon and Wangseukcheon streams. The area will be developed as a riverside living zone while strengthening self-sufficient functions through review of the relocation of agricultural and fishery wholesale markets.

The Hanam Misa K-Culture District, which will supply 12,000 units, is near Misa Island where Line 5 is located, with Line 3 and Line 9 extension projects underway in the vicinity, and features excellent scenic resources including Misa Landscape Park and Han River waterfront.

Hanam Gamil 2 District, which will supply 6,500 units, is an area with excellent accessibility to Olympic Park and Han River via Gamicheon, and will establish a public transportation system linked with the ongoing Line 3 extension project within nearby Hanam Gamil District. Uijeongbu Darak Won, which will supply 2,600 units, is a site that includes Camp Jackson, a U.S. military return property, with Dobongsan Mountain and Jungnangcheon Stream located nearby.

The Goyang Daegok Knowledge Convergence Expansion District will supply 4,000 units, with Daegok Station belonging to a penta-station zone where five railway lines including GTX-A and Line 3 converge.

The government decided to apply the 'Public Land Fastest Construction Model' developed through the August 13 Measures to these 6 new satellite city sites. Additionally, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will implement anti-speculation measures to eliminate speculation in the announced districts.

Minister Hong Ji-sun of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, “Continuously supplying housing in excellent areas preferred by actual demand users such as youth and newlywed couples is of utmost importance,” and added, “For these new satellite city sites, we will make every effort to rapidly supply housing by applying the fastest construction model to all procedures from district designation to construction commencement.”
