Police Deploy Over 7,800 Officers to 28 Priority Management Areas for Halloween Safety
The National Police Agency is deploying approximately 7,800 police personnel to 28 major areas with concentrated pedestrian traffic, including Seoul's Itaewon, during the special Halloween countermeasures period, implementing comprehensive safety management efforts.
According to the National Police Agency on the 30th, with this year's Halloween coinciding with a weekend, large-scale crowds are expected to concentrate during the weekend period, prompting a significant enhancement of on-site control and accident prevention measures.
Police are implementing staged vehicle controls based on congestion risk levels, and are taking strict measures not only for crowd management but also against serious crimes such as weapon-related disturbances and potential terrorism.
Government-level response is also being coordinated. The Ministry of Interior and Safety will dispatch senior-level field situation managers to 12 major locations, including Seoul's Itaewon and Hongdae, through November 1st, to provide real-time monitoring of on-site conditions and oversee overall safety management until crowds disperse.
Previously, Kim Jong-chul, Acting Police Commissioner, personally visited the Itaewon site and inspected safety management operations, then visited a nearby memorial space to pay respects to the victims.
