Personnel Gyeonggi Province Appoints Son Lim-sung, Director of Urban Housing, as New Administrative Vice Governor...Accelerating Balanced Development between North and South

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 30th that it has promoted Son Lim-sung, the provincial Director of Urban Housing, to the vacant position of new Administrative Vice Governor.

The newly appointed Administrative Vice Governor Son Lim-sung (57) is an urban administration expert who has held major positions in urban planning, construction, and development throughout the province since joining the civil service through the 34th Technical Civil Service Recruitment Examination in 1999. He graduated from Suncheon Geumdang High School and the Department of Civil Engineering at Yonsei University, and completed his master's degree in Regional Economics at Ajou University Graduate School.

Vice Governor Son has served in key positions at both metropolitan and local government levels, including roles as Director of New Town Development Division, Director of Urban Policy Division, Director of Urban Policy Bureau at Gyeonggi Province, as well as Vice Mayor of Hwaseong City, Vice Mayor of Bucheon City, Director of Balanced Development Planning Division at Gyeonggi Province, and Director of Urban Housing Division.

In particular, he is credited with playing a leading role in establishing the mid- to long-term urban and housing policy foundation for Gyeonggi Province by stably overseeing the development of Gwanggyo New City.

Gyeonggi Province explained the background of the appointment, stating that Son is the best-suited candidate to lead development policies for northern Gyeonggi and balanced development between the north and south regions, based on his deep expertise in urban planning and development projects, as well as his outstanding administrative capabilities rooted in experience as Director of Balanced Development Planning Division and Vice Mayor of local governments.

After taking office, the newly appointed Administrative Vice Governor Son will oversee all administrative affairs in his jurisdiction, centered around the Gyeonggi Northern Government Complex, and plans to begin earnest work on developing visions for northern regional development and improving residents' quality of life.
