Uiwang City Holds Inclusive Sports Event for People with Disabilities at Baekun Lake
Uiwang City (Mayor Kim Sung-je) held the 'Mayor of Uiwang City Cup Disability Sports Family Health Walking Festival' on the 30th at Baekun Lake's grassy plaza, bringing together people with and without disabilities.
The event was attended by approximately 500 people, including officials from disability sports associations and federations in the city, people with disabilities, and guardians, who enjoyed the walking course around the lake while appreciating the beautiful natural scenery of Baekun Lake.
In particular, the Uiwang City Disability Sports Association operated a separate accessible route for wheelchair users and spared no effort in creating a welcoming environment that considers various disability types and mobility needs so that everyone could participate comfortably.
Kim Sung-je, Mayor of Uiwang City and Chairman of the Uiwang City Disability Sports Association, said, "Today's festival is a meaningful occasion where people with and without disabilities understand and communicate with each other and come together as one," and added, "We will continue to make greater efforts to create a happy Uiwang City for people with disabilities."
Hosted by the Uiwang City Disability Sports Association, this festival provided an opportunity for people with and without disabilities to enjoy walking exercise together, promote their health, and communicate and foster unity with one another.
