Ju Gwang-deok, People Power Party Candidate for Namyangju Mayor, Announces "Youth Transportation Welfare Pledge" as Second Citizen Proposal Pledge Series

[News S=Eom In-yong Reporter] Ju Gwang-deok, the People Power Party candidate for Namyangju Mayor, announced the second installment of citizen proposal pledges—a transportation welfare pledge for young people who bear the burden of public transportation costs while commuting and attending school to Seoul and the capital region.

Notably, this pledge represents the candidate's active adoption of an "excellent hope pledge award-winning work" submitted to the Election Commission as policy, interpreted as an immediate reflection of the voices of Namyangju youth in city administration.

After reviewing the hope pledge, Candidate Ju announced the "Pass Plus (Pass+)" wide-area transportation fee support pledge for Namyangju youth.

Eligible recipients are young people aged 19-29 residing in Namyangju City who use public transportation in the capital region, with plans to gradually expand eligibility to age 39 based on performance and to review income threshold standards.

Candidate Ju Gwang-deok stated, "It is meaningful to adopt an excellent policy directly proposed by Namyangju youth among the Election Commission's excellent hope pledge award-winning works as our pledge. We will substantively reduce monthly transportation costs to support the economic independence of university students and early-career professionals, and redirect the support funds back to the community to simultaneously achieve youth welfare and the revitalization of alleyway commerce."

Meanwhile, Namyangju mayoral candidate Ju Gwang-deok, through the "three-pillar transportation basic rights package (seniors, youth, transportation-disadvantaged individuals)," has added the youth transportation fee support pledge to existing pledges including: ▲expanding senior transportation fee coverage to include taxis, phased increase from 30,000 to 50,000 won per quarter for those aged 75 and above ▲maintaining Gyeonggi Province matching for children and youth (60,000 won per quarter), self-support for excessive users, expansion of school bus routes ▲expanding low-floor bus adoption rates, immediate towing enforcement for electric kickboards (PM), improving pedestrian environments for transportation-disadvantaged individuals, and providing voice and braille guidance for deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
