Gyeonggi Province Supports Repair Costs for Jeonse Fraud Victim Housing with Management Gaps

Gyeonggi Province announced that it will provide support for repair costs of safety facilities and common and private areas in jeonse fraud victim housing that is not being properly maintained due to absentee landlords. The province is accepting applications for the second half of the 'Emergency Management Support Project for Jeonse Fraud Victim Housing' from August 26 to September 30.

For eligible housing, the province provides up to 20 million won for repair costs of common areas including fire safety, elevators, electricity, lighting, safety facilities, security equipment, and repairs to waterproofing and plumbing. For private areas within individual units, up to 5 million won per unit is provided for repair costs.

In cases where units designated as jeonse fraud victim units remain vacant, the province also covers fire safety management and elevator maintenance costs for those units. This measure is intended to prevent additional safety accidents and damage to victim housing where landlords are absent or unreachable and building management is not being properly conducted.

Gyeonggi Province supported a total of 38 cases in the first half of this year. Repairs mainly focused on facilities directly related to residents' residential safety such as waterproofing and leak prevention, heating and plumbing, and fire safety and elevators. In a satisfaction survey, all 38 respondents answered that they were 'very satisfied.'
