Hwaseong Special City holds communication meeting for 'youth-friendly city full of opportunities'

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myeong-geun) held the '2026 Communication Meeting with Youth' on the 22nd at the Dongtan District Office conference room, exchanging various opinions on youth policy with members of the Youth Policy Deliberation Committee.

This meeting was organized to reflect diverse voices from youth in city administration and to jointly seek effective policy implementation directions that youth can experience firsthand. The meeting was attended by approximately 40 members of the Youth Policy Deliberation Committee, including Chairman Yun Jae-won of the fifth session of Hwaseong City's Youth Policy Deliberation Committee.

The city is pursuing various youth policies with the goal of creating a 'youth-friendly city full of opportunities,' which is one of nine major strategies based on the values of 'happiness for all, a greater Hwaseong' and 'growth, inclusion, and fairness.'

Based on opinions from this meeting, the city plans to expand opportunities for youth policy participation and further activate the operation of the Youth Policy Deliberation Committee. In particular, it will strengthen policy proposal functions by division to ensure that young people's field voices translate into substantive policies.

Additionally, the city plans to expand the foundation for youth to participate proactively throughout the entire process from policy development to dissemination by implementing △youth policy forums △youth policy promotion support groups △youth policy idea contests △youth participatory budgeting △expanding the proportion of youth members on various committees.

Mayor Jung Myeong-geun of Hwaseong Special City stated, "Hwaseong Special City is a young and dynamic city where youth comprise approximately 30% of the total population," and added, "We will create a 'youth-friendly city full of opportunities' where youth can stay long, take root in their lives, and enjoy more opportunities and possibilities in areas closely connected to life such as employment, housing, culture, and welfare."
