'Ajou University V-Startup Research Group' Holds First University-Wide Startup Mentoring Program in Korea
[News S=Reporter Jung Eun-kyung] Ajou University (President Choi Ki-ju) held on the 17th the first university-wide startup mentoring program for international students in Korea, the 'Ajou University V-Startup Research Group (hereinafter Research Group)' business plan presentation contest.
The Research Group was conducted from October last year to February this year through talent donations by News S (CEO Kim Gap-dong), Aquamain (CEO Kim Beom-yeon), and Professor Lee Tae-jin of Ajou University (College of Business) to assist Vietnamese international students' startup activities.
The Research Group program was operated with a total of 12 lectures, starting from an orientation and culminating in a business plan presentation contest.
On this day, the Research Group business plan presentation contest had students participating in the mentoring program present business strategies including SWOT analysis and business promotion directions for the target products they wish to launch.
As a result of the contest, the Grand Prize went to ▲Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi for 'Four Seasons Lunch Box Business,' and the Excellence Awards went to ▲Bui Thi Thu Huong for 'Flower Business,' ▲Phan Thi Huyen for 'R-Beauty Business,' and ▲Hoa Thi Thu Hoa for 'Korea-Vietnam Post Business.'
Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi, the international student who won the Grand Prize, said, “This startup mentoring program taught me valuable content that I could not learn in university classrooms, and it will be of great help in actually launching a startup.”
Kim Beom-yeon, CEO of Aquamain, said, “As Korea and Vietnam mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and bilateral ties deepen, we planned Korea's first university startup mentoring program to help Vietnamese international students studying in Suwon,” and added, “Ajou University's startup mentoring program shared essential basic knowledge needed for Vietnamese international students to start their businesses, drawing from Mentor Kim Jin-ho's 29 years of work experience at Samsung Electronics and 9 years of startup expertise.”
Professor Lee Tae-jin of Ajou University said, “I hope the startup mentoring program for international students will be continuously expanded and many entrepreneurs will be produced.”
Kim Gap-dong, CEO of News S, said, "I look forward to the day when international students studying in Korea grow into global entrepreneurs through this startup mentoring program," and added, "News S and Aquamain plan to continue talent donations so that this startup mentoring program can spread to universities across the country, and we hope for many applications from universities interested in this program."
