Catholic University Saint Vincent's Hospital NICU Achieves Grade 1 for Third Consecutive Year in Appropriateness Evaluation

[News S=Reporter Kim Gap-dong] Catholic University Saint Vincent's Hospital announced on the 3rd that it has achieved Grade 1, the highest rating, for three consecutive years in the 'NICU Appropriateness Evaluation' released by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA).

The NICU Appropriateness Evaluation is a system implemented by HIRA since 2018 to strengthen medical quality and patient safety management systems in neonatal intensive care units in response to the increase in high-risk newborns.

The evaluation, conducted from January to June 2025, covered a total of 83 medical institutions including 46 tertiary hospitals and 37 general hospitals nationwide that operate NICUs. Eight indicators were comprehensively evaluated, including △number of patients per dedicated neonatologist in the NICU, △severity assessment implementation rate, and △NICU readmission rate within 48 hours.

In the evaluation results, Saint Vincent's Hospital recorded a comprehensive score of 93.06 points, surpassing both the national average (89.87 points) and the tertiary hospital average (92.66), and was selected as a Grade 1 medical institution.

In particular, the hospital received perfect scores on major process indicators including severity assessment implementation rate and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) consultation implementation rate, and also recorded 0% on the 48-hour NICU readmission rate as a result indicator, demonstrating high expertise in high-risk neonatal care and safe treatment standards.
