Provincial Councilor Lee Hong-geun Elected Chair of Urban Environment Committee for First Half of 12th Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly
[News S=Reporter Kim Gap-dong] The Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly elected Councilor Lee Hong-geun (Democratic Party, Hwaseong 1st District) as Chair of the Urban Environment Committee at the third plenary session of the 392nd extraordinary session on the 16th.
Chair Lee Hong-geun, a second-term councilor from Hwaseong, expressed his gratitude for his election through an acceptance speech, stating, "Throughout my legislative activities, what I have always kept in mind is that the reason for the assembly's existence is the residents, and the outcomes of legislative work must be proven in the lives of residents."
Chair Lee emphasized, "The Urban Environment Committee is a committee that inspects the present and designs the future of Gyeonggi Province," and added, "It bears the important responsibility of enhancing residents' quality of life through balanced urban growth, sustainable environment, and creating a safe and dignified living environment."
He further stated, "As chair, I will strengthen the expertise and policy capacity of the Urban Environment Committee, and through committee operations that respect the experience and wisdom of each member, I will create policy outcomes that residents can tangibly feel."
Finally, Chair Lee expressed his commitment, "I will do my best to ensure that the Urban Environment Committee becomes a leading body that advances Gyeonggi Province and brings happiness to residents."
Meanwhile, the Urban Environment Committee consists of 13 members including the chair and oversees all urban and environmental policies of Gyeonggi Province, including urban housing, urban development, and climate environment and energy.
