Gyeonggi Province announced on the 25th that it has designated an area of 111,660 square meters in the Tanbul-dong district of Gwangju as the ‘Gwangju Tanbul District Urban Development Zone’ at the request of Gwangju City, and has established a development plan for the construction of a 1,072-unit residential complex.

The Tanbul District will feature apartment complexes with 1,072 units capable of accommodating 2,573 residents, along with urban infrastructure including parks, green spaces, and roads.

In particular, the apartment complexes and parks within the district have been designed to connect with the nearby Gwangju Central Neighborhood Park, allowing for park views. The plan aims to create green spaces that naturally link residential areas with parks, enabling residents to enjoy a pleasant living environment.

Infrastructure to improve transportation and parking conditions will also be expanded. Surrounding roads will be widened, and a traffic plaza and parking lot will be installed along Hoe-an Boulevard to address traffic demand from the Tanbul District development while improving traffic and parking conditions in surrounding areas.

The Tanbul-dong area has continued development demand in surrounding regions. Gyeonggi Province and Gwangju City recognized that ongoing individual small-scale development could lead to haphazard development, and therefore decided to pursue planned development that creates both residential facilities and infrastructure simultaneously through urban development zone designation.

Kim Hee-sung, Director of the Urban Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, “The Tanbul District is a project that plans apartment complexes together with parks and green spaces, creating a nature-friendly residential environment closely integrated with nearby green spaces,” and added, “We will cooperate with Gwangju City to create a pleasant urban environment that harmonizes with surrounding areas.”
