Uiwang City Concludes Liberation Day Photo Exhibition Showcasing Independence Movement History
Uiwang City (Mayor Kim Seong-je) successfully concluded the 'Liberation Day Memorial Photo Exhibition' held in the lobby of City Hall from August 3rd in commemoration of the 81st Liberation Day anniversary.
The exhibition was promoted to widely communicate the historical significance of Liberation Day and introduce citizens to Uiwang's independence movement history and patriotic heritage. It was organized so that citizens could view it naturally in their everyday routines.
The exhibition featured photos related to Liberation Day, including the cultivation of independence fighters and the establishment of the Korean Liberation Army, with cooperation from the Gyeonggi Branch of the Gwangbok회 (Korean Patriotic Association). Additionally, the 'Youth Independence Textbook' produced by the Foil Youth Culture Center of the Uiwang City Youth Foundation through the 2025 Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs public project was also displayed, bringing the significance of Uiwang's regional independence movement closer to citizens.
In particular, the independence textbook contained information about the activities of independence fighters in Uiwang including Yi Hui-seung, Park Seong-sam, Sung Ju-bok, and Yi Bong-geun, as well as patriotic memorial sites in the city such as Uiwang Hangeul Park and the Wangsong Lake Monument to Independence Merit Awardees, enabling citizens to gain a concrete understanding of our region's patriotic history.
