Gyeonggi Province Conducts Drill to Prepare for Abusive and Threatening Civil Complaints
Gyeonggi Province held a second-half drill at the Open Civil Complaints Office of Gyeonggi Provincial Government on the 25th to strengthen response capabilities against illegal acts by complainants and secure the safety of civil complaints staff.
Illegal acts by complainants include abusive language, threats, and destruction of property. At the Provincial Government's Open Civil Complaints Office, an emergency response system operates ranging from connecting to the 112 Integrated Situation Room to handing over to police, with two emergency drills conducted annually.
The drill was conducted jointly by Gyeonggi Provincial Government, special police officers, and Gwanggyo Police Box, following role assignments in the emergency response system. It proceeded through step-by-step scenarios including △guiding complainants to calm down △proactive intervention by superiors △activating emergency bells (connection to 112 Integrated Situation Room) and calling special police officers △protecting affected civil servants △evacuating visiting complainants △restraining offending complainants △and handing over to police.
Hong Deok-soo, director of the Open Civil Complaints Office of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We will strengthen staff response capabilities against illegal acts by complainants and simultaneously ensure the safety of both civil servants and complainants," adding, "Going forward, we will make our utmost effort to create a safe civil complaints environment by preparing for various situations."
