Rainwater Accumulates Across Suwon Roads...Spray Obscures Drivers' Vision

Rain that fell on Suwon on September 1st caused rainwater to accumulate at various points on roads, creating difficulties for vehicle traffic.

Dashcam footage captured large water spray rising as vehicles passed through accumulated water, covering the windshields of oncoming vehicles. Alarming moments were also recorded when the forward view was momentarily almost completely obscured by the spray.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, as of 3:05 p.m. that day, the daily rainfall at the Suwon observation point recorded 30.6mm. At 3 p.m., Suwon experienced continuous moderate-intensity rain, with temperatures recorded at 21.3 degrees Celsius and humidity at 95%.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted daily rainfall of 10-60mm for southwestern Gyeonggi Province. Rain in the central region, including Suwon, is expected to continue until around 6 p.m. before clearing. Accordingly, additional rainfall is not expected to be significant at night, but the timing of rainfall cessation and precipitation amounts may vary depending on localized cloud development.

Drivers should reduce speed sufficiently on wet roads and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. In areas where water has accumulated, water depth and road conditions are difficult to assess, so drivers should not attempt to enter forcefully. In case of emergencies such as vehicle stranding, immediate reports should be made to 119.
