Yongin 'Forest of Tranquility' Completes Outdoor Wall-Type Columbarium with 7,116 Niches

Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 1st that it has completed construction of an outdoor wall-type columbarium facility at 'Yongin Forest of Tranquility'.

The city has established a columbarium with a capacity of 7,116 niches to respond to the increasing demand for cremation and enshrinement services and to provide citizens with diverse mortuary facilities.

'Yongin Forest of Tranquility' includes existing facilities such as △columbarium halls (34,564 niches, 83.2% occupancy rate) △columbarium graves (3,526 niches, 99.4% occupancy rate) △tree burial sites (708 niches, 86.3% occupancy rate) △grass burial fields (5,338 niches, 63.7% occupancy rate). As occupancy rates of existing enshrinement facilities have increased, the need for expanded mortuary facilities has been raised.

The city expects that the construction of the columbarium will complement capacity of existing enshrinement facilities in operation, and with expanded facilities, it will be able to provide citizens with improved mortuary services.

A city official stated, "We have newly constructed the columbarium to stably respond to the cremation and enshrinement demands of citizens using Yongin Forest of Tranquility and to expand their options," and added, "We will closely monitor the usage and demand of mortuary facilities and make efforts in the management and operation of 'Forest of Tranquility' so that citizens can conveniently use the facilities."
