Suwon City Wins Prime Minister's Prize at Korea Knowledge Awards for 3D-based Public Sector Land Management

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) received the Prime Minister's Prize (Grand Prize) at the "15th Korea Knowledge Awards" held at Seoul Shilla Hotel on the 10th.

The "Korea Knowledge Awards" discovers and honors organizations that have created achievements in administrative and management innovation through the collection, sharing, and application of knowledge. This year, 20 organizations, including government agencies, public institutions, and local public enterprises, were selected as award recipients.

Suwon City was recognized for its digital transformation achievements in public asset management through the "Korea's First Smart Management System for Public Sector Land Based on Drones, 3D, and Virtual Reality (VR)".

Suwon City established a management system that enables three-dimensional verification of public sector land status by linking drone orthoimagery, 3D spatial information, 360-degree virtual reality (VR), cadastral maps, and public asset registers.

Through the second quarter of this year, it proactively discovered 308 suspected unauthorized occupation sites. Through video-based preliminary analysis, it reduced investigation time and costs by more than 70% and field site visits by more than 80%. By utilizing in-house personnel and existing equipment and systems, it also reduced costs for fact-finding investigations and external surveying.

Lee Won-gu, director of the Economic Policy Bureau of Suwon City, said, "Through this award, we were recognized for applying digital technologies such as drones and 3D spatial information to public asset management and converting on-site information into administrative knowledge," and added, "Moving forward, we will manage citizens' assets accurately and efficiently."
