Hwaseong Special City Establishes 13 Dedicated Police Vehicle Parking Spaces to Address Public Safety Demands
Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) announced on the 21st that in cooperation with the Hwaseong Special City Council, Hwaseong Western Police Station, and Hwaseong Dongtan Police Station, it has established dedicated police vehicle parking spaces at 13 key public safety demand areas including Dongtan Station, Central Park, and Byeongjeom Central Shopping District, with operations to commence before the Chuseok holiday.
The project was initiated to support rapid police response in emergency situations such as 112 calls and smooth patrol activities by linking police field public safety operations with the city's parking administration.
The institutional foundation for the project was established through an ordinance sponsored by Hwaseong Special City Council Member Choi Eun-hee. Subsequently, Hwaseong Western Police Station and Hwaseong Dongtan Police Station conducted comprehensive analysis of 112 call status, public safety demands, floating population, and patrol necessity to identify areas requiring police vehicle dispatch and patrol bases, requesting the city to install dedicated parking spaces.
The city reflected police requests by reviewing site conditions and traffic safety for each target location, designating and announcing a total of 13 locations for dedicated police vehicle parking spaces—6 in the western area and 7 in the eastern area. The city completed facility installation before the Chuseok holiday to address increased public safety demands during the holiday period.
Police plan to utilize the designated spaces as bases for rapid dispatch and patrols when public safety demands arise from 112 calls and similar situations.
In particular, the city installed solar-powered LED guidance signs to ensure police vehicle parking spaces are easily identifiable even at night. This measure enhances nighttime visibility to prevent general vehicle parking and enable immediate use of the spaces by police vehicles when needed.
Installation target locations were selected with emphasis on substantive public safety activities. In addition to Dongtan Station, Central Park, and Byeongjeom Central Shopping District, the areas include regions such as Hyangnam, Bongdam, Namyang, and Bibong with high 112 call volume and floating populations or requiring rapid police field access.
Additionally, areas requiring nighttime patrols and crime prevention activities, including women's safety paths and one-room housing clusters, parks, and commercial areas, were included to enhance police field response capabilities.
Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jung Myung-geun stated, "This project is the result of collaboration where police, who best understand the local public safety field, identified necessary locations and the city rapidly provided administrative and facility support. By completing installation before the Chuseok holiday, we expect to proactively address increased public safety demands during the holiday period," he said.
