Governor Choo Mi-ae of Gyeonggi Province visited the Provincial Government Building, Fire and Disaster Management Headquarters, and police boxes on the 24th, the first day of the Chuseok holiday, to encourage emergency staff and urge seamless response efforts.

Governor Choo sequentially visited the Emergency Medical Care Situation Room, Emergency Welfare Hotline Call Center, Integrated Situation Room, Disaster Situation Room, and On-duty Room operating within the Provincial Government Building to encourage staff on duty.

As her first agenda, Governor Choo visited the Disaster Situation Room in the provincial building and said, "Thank you for spending the holiday in our place. Please think of yourselves as the emergency response command center for our residents and respond thoroughly and well."

Governor Choo then visited the Situation Room of Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Management Headquarters located inside the former Provincial Government Building in Paldal-gu, Suwon, and met with staff responsible for monitoring various incidents and accidents, conducting safety inspections, and coordinating responses. She also encouraged staff at the Gyeonggi Province 120 Call Center and Environmental Pollution Prevention Special Monitoring Team working at the former building.

After reviewing highway traffic conditions and fire dispatch status at the Fire and Disaster Management Headquarters Situation Room, Governor Choo said, "Thank you for working hard for the lives and safety of our residents even during the holiday break. Thanks to all of you, this will be a safe Chuseok. Please take pride in your work."

After that, Governor Choo visited the Traffic Information Center Situation Room in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, and the Animal Health Testing Institute Situation Room on emergency duty in preparation for livestock epidemics during the holiday period. She then visited Homaesil Police Box and Homaesil 119 Safety Center to encourage staff.

In particular, on this day Governor Choo went to Jungnam-myeon, Hyohaeng-gu, Hwaseong where a recent fire occurred, and visited Hwaseong Jungnam 119 Safety Center. On the 16th, a major fire broke out at a waste recycling facility in Jungnam-myeon, and firefighting response stage 2 was issued to extinguish it.

At the scene, Governor Choo said, "I came to encourage you since there was a fire recently. This is an area where similar accidents could occur and a region that requires vigilance even during the Chuseok holiday. As governor, I wanted to encourage and thank you for your dedicated efforts in protecting the lives and safety of our residents."

After receiving briefings on the fire situation and suppression process, she said, "Fires can always occur in the industrial areas of Hwaseong and Gyeonggi Province, and if toxic gases are released, they can harm residential areas, but you responded quickly and well. I sincerely appreciate your special efforts." She added, "Grounding devices must be mandatorily installed on oil tanks to prevent static electricity from occurring. Please prepare institutional improvement measures so that cases similar to this fire do not occur."

Gyeonggi Province will implement a comprehensive "2026 Chuseok Plan" covering four major areas—livelihood stability, safety and health, culture and welfare, and transportation and convenience—from the 24th to the 27th so residents can spend a safe and comfortable holiday.

A total of 872 personnel from 16 provincial departments and 41 duty teams will operate the Integrated Situation Room to respond quickly to disasters, accidents, and civil complaints and minimize inconvenience to residents.

For various inquiries during the holiday period, residents can receive consultation through the Gyeonggi Province Call Center (031-120), which operates 24 hours. For emergency medical care, the Gyeonggi Province Emergency Medical Care Situation Room (031-8008-4745) can guide residents to nearby medical facilities.
