Yongin Special City held a '2027 Major Tasks Implementation Plan Report' meeting on the 28th at the city hall video conference room and discussed major policies and implementation measures for the city's sustainable development.

The city maintained continuity with policies implemented since the '8th mayoral term' to realize the city administration's slogan 'Yongin Renaissance 2.0,' and on this basis, established new policies to be pursued in the '9th mayoral term.' The city announced that it presented policies to improve irrational practices and resolve citizen inconveniences, concentrated capabilities on 'active administration' that seeks solutions in the field, and proposed policies for leaping forward as a global semiconductor industry hub city as well as infrastructure construction measures to secure industrial competitiveness.

In the administrative sector, the city will introduce a 'direct text message service from the mayor' system, strengthen legal support for civil servants, and push forward with sub-districts and sub-divisions to establish an efficient administrative system. The city plans to conduct administrative procedures through collecting resident opinions via town hall meetings and surveys and undergoing feasibility studies.

In the education sector, the city will develop a 'Yongin City Education Integrated Brand' and build 'Giheung Harmony Center' and 'Baekam Elementary School Complex Facility' as school complex facilities. The 'Giheung Harmony Center' will open in March next year, and 'Baekam Elementary School Complex Facility' is scheduled to begin construction in October next year. The city will also pursue 'Lifelong Learning City certification' both domestically and internationally and designation as a 'youth-friendly city.'

In the culture sector, the city will implement administrative procedures for establishing a 'Public Complex Culture and Welfare Center' in Sungbok-dong, Suji-gu, and review the establishment of an 'Idong New City Complex Arts Center' including performance halls, art museums, and museums in Idong-eup, Cheoin-gu. The 'Yongin Bandabi Sports Center' will undergo detailed design next year, and new libraries will be built in the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster general industrial complex, Eunhwa-sam district, and Yurim-dong, Cheoin-gu.

In the welfare sector, the city will expand 'Together Care Centers' and 'Community Child Care Centers,' provide health examination fees of up to 350,000 won per person biennially to social welfare facility workers, and increase welfare allowances for spouses of veterans of war from 30,000 won to 50,000 won. The pregnancy support fund targeting pregnant women of 20 weeks or more will be expanded from 300,000 won to 500,000 won in local currency per person.

In the industry sector, the city will pursue designation of 'Yongin Semiconductor National Advanced Strategy Industry Specialized Complex Semiconductor Cluster' and establish a semiconductor industry cooperation fund. In the transportation sector, the city will newly establish a 'railway fund' and complete preliminary feasibility studies for three railway networks including the new Dongbaek-Sinbong line by next year, and will also pursue expansion of the road network including expansion of the entire Local Road 312.

Mayor Lee Sang-il stated, "Yongin is receiving recognition for achieving remarkable growth as a global semiconductor hub city and as a city developing toward a population of 1.5 million," and continued, "Along with the expansion of industry and city scale, we must build infrastructure to improve citizens' quality of life in various sectors including culture, arts, refinement, and sports, and develop it into a city where all community members want to live." Mayor Lee added, "The projects to be pursued in 2027 are expected to be of great help to citizen happiness and urban development," and said, "I hope that civil servants will pursue active administration with determination so that these policies can be implemented as planned and achieve good results."

At the report meeting on the 28th, major policies of departments under the First Vice Mayor were announced. On the 30th, major task report meetings of collaborative agencies under the city are scheduled to be held, and the major tasks report meeting for departments under the Second Vice Mayor, which oversees urban development and railroads and roads, will be held on October 14.
