The Gyeonggi Science & Economy Promotion Agency (hereinafter "the Agency") held a meeting for the 'AI Education Facilitator Development Project' on the 30th as part of the 'Gyeonggi AI Digital Learning Center' initiative.

The 'Gyeonggi AI Digital Learning Center' operates with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT and Gyeonggi Province. The approach involves cultivating university students as 'AI Education Facilitators' who then support AI-based creative activities for children at community children's centers.

The core focus is to connect young talent's digital competencies with the local community to expand educational opportunities and establish AI creative education models that can be utilized in real-world settings.

The event was attended by approximately 50 people, including Kim Hyun-gon, Director of the Agency, and Kim Jung-seop, President of Smilegate, along with 20 university facilitators and 10 community children's center teachers. Together they directly operated AI creative programs that can be utilized in actual educational settings.

Participants experienced the entire process from planning characters and stories using generative AI to game development. Teams consisting of 2 university students and 1 community children's center teacher each developed customized AI education curricula tailored to their respective organizations.

The Agency plans to operate a total of 6 mentoring sessions by November targeting children at community children's centers managed by participating center directors. Following the project's completion, the Agency and Smilegate Hope Studio plan to analyze outcomes and present education models applicable to real-world implementation.

The Gyeonggi AI Digital Learning Center operates 8 hub centers and 11 experience zones across the province. It also plans to link with mobile edu-buses that visit areas lacking equipment, thereby expanding environments where residents can access AI and digital education close to their daily lives.

Kim Jung-seop, President of Smilegate, stated: "We have created an important opportunity to bridge the AI digital gap at community children's centers and spread a creative environment for future generations. We will share our experience and expertise to collaborate in expanding creative environments for those disadvantaged in AI education."

Kim Hyun-gon, Director of the Agency, said: "This project is a meaningful starting point that connects young people's AI capabilities with the local community to support creative growth of the future generation. We will actively link private sector expertise with public educational infrastructure to create an educational environment where everyone can benefit from AI and digital technology."
