Gwacheon City Expands Installation of Solar-Powered Wireless Bus Information Display Systems (BIT)

Gwacheon City announced that it has expanded the installation of solar-powered wireless bus information display systems (BIT) to 15 village bus stops, which can be installed without electrical and telecommunications construction work.

On the 21st, Gwacheon City completed the 'solar-powered wireless BIT expansion installation project' targeting village bus stops where electrical and telecommunications construction work is difficult. Village bus stops had remained in blind spots for traffic information services due to constraints in electrical and telecommunications infrastructure work.

Previously, the city conducted a pilot installation of solar BIT at five locations last year and confirmed stable operation before pursuing project expansion. The project invested 190 million won, and solar BIT systems were installed at 15 locations including the No. 1 exit of Gyeongma Park Station.

According to the effectiveness analysis, an annual reduction of approximately 679kg of greenhouse gas emissions is expected. Over 10 years of operation, a 64% reduction in operating costs and a 93% reduction in carbon emissions are anticipated, yielding expected budget savings of approximately 350 million won.

Meanwhile, this project was selected for the Public Procurement Service's innovative product pilot purchase project in 2026, with plans to install 10 additional units by December of this year.
